Fellow Clerks,

Do you have employees sign off acknowledging receipt of their employee handbook/or knowledge of the location of the book?

Also, could you tell me how you distribute your Employee Handbooks?
·         Paper Copy
·         Digital Copy
·         Online Copy
·         A Copy in each Department
Many thanks!

Good morning, Jennifer. We actually have two forms that they sign.
One is during in-processing that states that they will read it and we do have it on-line on our website and also each dept has a hard copy, and each dept has to sign off that they picked one up to have in their perspective departments. It is up to the dept. managers to let their employee’s know where they keep the handbook. Hope this helps.

Yes a form is signed acknowledging that we have read and received a copy of the employee handbook.

Employees receive a copy of the Personnel Handbook upon inprocessing. They must sign a form acknowledging that they receieved it. We cannot force anyone to read it and according to our county attorney at the time, acknowledging receipt is good enough.

The policies are updated throughout each year. As those policies are updated/adopted, they are sent electronically to all employees asking them to replace their contents with the newly adopted policy. Every July, however, we send out a new full handbook which has all updates that were adopted throughout the year. Each year they are asked to sign another acknowledgement form.

Specific policies are reviewed during orientation and employees are told that the most current up-to-date version in available on the City's intranet. At that point they sign off that they had been informed.

Hi Jennifer,
When a new hire comes in to sign all the paperwork, etc., they are given a copy of the handbook and a form to sign acknowledging they received the paper copy. We also have the handbook on-line and when changes are made, these are emailed to all employees.
Have a great day.

Hi Jennifer,

New hires receive a paper copy of the handbook and sign a form stating they received it.

Everyone signs for a copy of any revisions to the handbook.

Thanks! Juanita
