How does your jurisdiction handle County Employees who are not paying their Personal Property or Real Estate Taxes? Are they treated any different than other citizens? If anyone has a policy regarding this, i would love a copy of it. Thanks

According to our Treasurer's Office, the City of Waynesboro has an ordinance that states no employee shall receive a paycheck if they owe the City ANY money for anything. So, first their wages are garnished, just like any other taxpayer. BUT, they are offered payment arrangements, just like everyone else. So, no, they are not treated differently….they can't be.

Hope this helps.

The Town of Louisa employs less than 20 people and none of them live within the town limits. The County of Louisa, however, has just recently experienced such a problem. Try contacting the Treasurer's office for the County of Louisa.
