Notifying organizations after an Election 12/08/2011
_ Does your locality have a protocol for notifying organizations associated with your locality of the Board of Supervisors ELECT – Prior to the reorganizational meeting held in mid-January? My locality has 3 Board members and two will be replaced after the first of the year. The County Administrator feels there should be some notifications sent out of this change now but wants to know if there’s any precedence set for this in another locality – as we have none. Note: notification will go out after the reorganization meeting January 12th – that will include Board information including who of them has been elected Chair and Vice Chair. Thank you. In the City of Falls Church everyone knows who the newly elected members of Council are because of the media and the small size of our locality. Therefore, we do not send out anything to our boards and commissions.

No we don't notify until after the re-orgnaization meeting, because it's not "official". As you do, we notify all after the re-organization meeting. Some localities (if have a newsletter) will welcome the new and say a few things about how they have enjoyed and will miss the out going.

What about legislative committees that are meeting the first of the year - prior to the reorganizational meeting and they want to invite the "elected officials"? The incoming officials are Not official yet but in the coming year will be the officials that have to address the legislation issues effecting our locality.
