Does your locality (county/city) have standard operating procedures (SOPs) regarding making appointments to boards and commissions?  In addition, does your locality’s SOP specify the number of terms an individual can serve, how the chair person is selected, how many terms may an individual serve as chair person, does the locality require a completed Board Bank Application prior to consideration of an applicant, and does the government body interview the candidates prior to making appointments?

How does your locality account for time while you are on travel or at a conference in relation to a 40-hour work week? Example: If you leave for a conference at 6:00 a.m. and return at 8:00 p.m., do you earn comp time for the extra time? Are you charged for your lunch time? How are you compensated for all the time you spend?
